During the past four years, ING Taipei Marathon has attracted 500,000 runners and more than seven million kilometers ran in total. It has been recognized as one of the largest marathon event in the world, making Taipei the world famous city for marathon.


Let’s Go!Stand at the Starling Line with Elite Runners from around the World

Starting from 2004, elite runners from more than 40 countries around the world, joined with the top runners from Taiwan have run the streets of Taipei and achieved outstanding records every year. For the competition group, runners from 10 year-old to 86 year-old have been running for health, for challenge, for goal and for charity. This year, ING Taipei Marathon will continue to lead the trend of road-running. The official competition will start at 7 am. December 21st. The record is for you to break!


Big Cash Prizes Lure Elite Runners to Break the Record

The competition this year will be more spectacular than ever. The prize money for breaking the race record of full-length marathon (male/female) this year has accumulated to 1.33 million NT dollars, which is expected to attract the first-class runners from around the world to join the race. Can the male champion break the record of 2H11’05 made by Kenyan runner Luke Kibet? Or can the female champion break the record of 2H30’56 made by Kenyan runner Jane Ekimat Auro? Local runners’ performance also deserves your attention. After running the 2007 ING Taipei International Marathon, local elite runner Wu Wen-chien broke his personal record at 2008 Xiamen International Marathon by finishing the race in 2H16’04, which helped him qualify for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Whether Taiwanese runner can break the local marathon record (male/Hsu Ji-sheng, 2H14’35; female/Hsu Yu-fang, 2H39’53) will be the highlight of the race this year.


Veterans Bring the Rookies to Challenge Themselves and Enjoy the Fun of Running

In order to bring health to more people, ING Life Taiwan especially launches a campaign of “Runner Recommends New Runners”, aiming to have the veteran runners lead the rookie runners to challenge themselves, extending from 9k to half marathon (21km), and from half marathon to full marathon. This campaign is intended to help the runners to exploit their full potential and bring their game to a higher level. The unique 2km mini marathon for children is always one of the most popular categories in the event. This year the organizer will host a nation-wide elementary school relay-race competition as the warm-up event for the children marathon.


Avid Runners from Health-Conscious Enterprises will Compete in Taipei

Run for the speed and run for the team spirit! Running teams from local enterprises have made the ING Taipei Marathon so unique! In 2007, 600 employees from Chunghwa Pictures Tubes Ltd. registered for the event, breaking the record set by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) in 2006. TSMC and Quanta Computers were no.2 and no.3 in terms of employees registered for the race. During the past four years, more than 500 enterprises have organized their own team to join the marathon. ING Life Taiwan, the major sponsor for the marathon, also had more than 600 employees join the competition group in 2007 Taipei International Marathon. These enterprises not only compete in terms of runners registered for the event, but also in terms of their cheerleaders. The intensive competition among these health-conscious enterprises will make the marathon more exciting than ever. A healthy and joyful carnival of city marathon is about to rock the Taipei City.

“Bring your Daddy to the race?” This year, we invite you to not only bring your dad, but also your mom, your brothers, sisters, grandmas and grandpas to the marathon. From the advertising campaign of “Nobody is available” in 2004 to “Kids are not available” in 2005, “Yes I’m available “ in 2006 to “Brings Your Daddy torun”, the theme of out commercials have been receiving great feedbacks. The picture of daughter running hand in hand with her dad touched a lot of people. This year, based on the theme of “Bring your whole family to the marathon”, we would like to encourage your whole family to come and experience the healthy and joyful sports of road-running.


More Runners, More Charity

Running for charity has made the ING Taipei Marathon a more meaningful sports event. During the past four years, ING Life Taiwan has donated a total of 6.8 million NT dollars for charity. ING Life Taiwan has launched campaigns such as “donate NT$1 for 1 km ran”, “Celebrity Charity Run”, and “Charity Number Cloth”, this year ING will contribute to charity by launching the “Fun Run Charity Ambassador of Five” and the total fund raised is expected to 8 million NT dollars accumulated. ING Taipei International Marathon makes you run not only for your heart, but also from your heart.


Half a Million People Write their own Marathon Stories

ING Taipei International Marathon has created hundreds of thousands touching stories. Kenyan runner Luke Kibet, after winning the 2005 and 2006 Taipei International Marathon, clutched the champion title of 2007 World Marathon Championship. An-an, a four year-old boy with serious autism had opened his heart for the first time by joining the run. Liu Bi-lien, a single mom who regained control of her life with road-running finished her 51st marathon here. “Every time I see the finish line at the marathon, I feel so overwhelmed by the joy of life, “said Liu. Numerous touching stories like this happened at ING Taipei International Marathon, an event attended by more than 500,000 people in total.
